Alpha and Omega. Oil painting, single figure composition. A male figure sleeps on a bed in a room with sunlight entering through the partially opened curtains. Through the window is a Yucca tree. The emphasis in the painting is on the movement of light, from the window to the chest of drawers to the soft indirect light on the figure. The motel, which was still operating when the image was painted, sits on the side of a row of tall lanky Washingtonia palms, with the large metal post of a billboard flanking its right edge.
